Inaugural Internship Fair

The Communications Department held its inaugural internship fair this past Wednesday in an effort to align students with internships.

The event was organized by Dr. Scott Peterson, the COM 4330 Internship Coordinator, with the primary goal of matching students with prospective companies offering internships in fields varying from sales, marketing, journalism, and social media.

Companies represented were Reynolds and Reynolds, WDTN, Alzheimer’s Association, and Dayton City Paper.

Dr. Peterson feels the internship fair went well, especially being a first time event.

“I feel the students that came were prepared with resumes and well dressed,” Peterson said.

Hasan Abdul-Karim, a junior attended the event and found it to be very beneficial.

“I enjoyed the fair.” Abdul-Karim said. “I was able to talk to Dayton City Paper, whom I’m very interested in working for.”

Dr. Peterson is already in the process of organizing another internship fair, which is tentatively scheduled for April 19, 2016 to coincide with the COM 4330 Showcase that will be held at the end of spring semester.
